In times as troubling as these, those of us who depend on music to get us through the rough spots in life have been combing through our collections looking for songs to help things all make sense--or at least provide some sort of temporary distraction.

Happily, this trend coincides with the new scientific proof that listening to music that "gives you the chills" stimulates a part of the brain previously thought to respond only to food and procreation. We already sort of knew this, but now there's evidence: getting really into your music is good for you, mentally and physically. Keep on listening.
